For over a decade Colin Kirby has counseled the brightest and most disruptive stakeholders in the emerging companies and venture capital arena, the last two years as a Partner in Foley Hoag’s Emerging Companies and Venture Capital group. Colin has advised on dozens of 9- and 10-figure acquisition transactions, and hundreds of venture capital and growth investments. Colin obtained his LL.M. in Law and Entrepreneurship at Duke University in 2011, prior to which he served three years in South Bend, IN at Notre Dame Law School. Colin met Mike, James and Josh in early 2019, and was shocked to learn of the magnitude of cybersecurity threats to the planes, trains and automobiles in the United States and abroad. He was further blown away by the dynamic and disruptive nature of the Shift5 technology, and the manifest ability of the founders to grow and inspire Shift5’s team to meet this great challenge. Colin makes angel investments but is not an angel investor. He spends his weekends chasing his dog with his wife Margot, and children Axel and India.
Collectively, the Shift5 team includes leading cybersecurity experts, accomplished analysts and developers, military and government backgrounds, authors, pattern-makers, and more. There’s a lot that makes us unique, but together, we’re united around the shared vision of solving the most pressing cybersecurity issues for trains, planes, and tanks and like to have fun doing it.
